Today's Odds — Australia

Across the odds samples we track for Australia, two operators dominate best-price supply. On a 243-selection sample, Unibet returned the top price 55.97% of the time; Ladbrokes was close behind at 54.65% across 258 selections. Both also carried the tightest average margins in the sample set — Unibet 5.84% and Ladbrokes 5.82% — which is why value bettors comparing lines routinely land on those two books. That does not make them the correct account for every market. bet365 leads the field on market coverage (9.6), sports depth (9.5) and live capability (9.4), while Sportsbet holds the thinnest headline margin in our data at 4.91%. This hub explains where each operator wins on price, where it wins on breadth, and how to use both together.

Best-price share and margin: the numbers that rank the field

Best-price share measures how often a bookmaker posts the top available price on the selections we sample. Average margin measures the overround baked into a market — lower is better for the bettor. Read together, they tell you where your stake stretches furthest.

Sportsbet is the outlier worth flagging: it wins top price rarely (15.91%) yet carries the lowest average margin (4.91%) in the set. That combination usually means competitive prices spread thinly rather than headline-topping outliers — a book that is consistently close rather than consistently first. bet365's 7.44% margin sits highest here, but its sample was the smallest at 30 selections, so treat that figure as indicative rather than settled.

Sample size matters. Ladbrokes and Unibet are measured on 240+ selections each; the sub-60 samples (Neds, TAB, PointsBet, betr, PlayUp) carry wider error bars. TopSport is not yet in our odds sample and is scored on ratings only.

Legality and who regulates betting in Australia

Every operator listed here is licensed. Online sportsbooks in Australia are almost all licensed through the Northern Territory Racing Commission (NTRC) — that applies to Ladbrokes, Unibet, PointsBet, Sportsbet, Neds, betr, PlayUp and TopSport in our data. TAB operates under state and territory authorities. The minimum betting age nationwide is 18.

Regulation in Australia runs through state and territory racing and wagering authorities rather than a single federal betting licence. One structural point that shapes prices: in-play betting must be placed by phone or in a retail outlet, not clicked online, under the Interactive Gambling Act. That is why live-betting scores here reflect app and phone workflows rather than one-tap online in-play. See our full list of regulated books on the legal betting sites page.

Racing and the codes: matching sport to operator

Horse racing remains the deepest domestic market, and the NTRC-licensed pack — Ladbrokes, Neds, Sportsbet and TAB — build their pricing and tote products around it. For code football, the AFL and NRL drive the busiest multi and same-game markets.

On market coverage and depth, bet365 (9.6 / 9.5) and Sportsbet (8.5 / 8.6) lead, with Ladbrokes (8.4 / 8.5) and Unibet (8.3 / 8.4) close behind. For breadth across Aussie Rules, Rugby League, Cricket (Big Bash and Test Matches), Tennis (ATP and WTA), Football (A-League, Premier League, Champions League) and Basketball (NBA), bet365 is the widest single account.

Bet Builder support is worth checking by code: bet365 (rated 9.0), Sportsbet (8.3), Unibet (7.9), Ladbrokes (7.8) and Neds (7.7) all list it. PointsBet, TAB, betr, PlayUp and TopSport are not listed with Bet Builder in our feature data. If same-game multis are central to how you bet AFL or NRL, that narrows the field quickly.

Payments: PayID leads, Apple Pay is limited

PayID is the near-universal deposit rail here — every operator in our list supports it. Visa is equally broad; Mastercard is supported by bet365, Ladbrokes, PointsBet, Sportsbet, TAB and Neds. TopSport adds Bank Transfer.

Apple Pay is the scarcer option: only bet365 and Sportsbet list it. Minimum deposit is $10 across every operator we track, and stated withdrawal windows are uniform at 0–24 hours. Because those baseline terms are identical, payments should be a filter (does this book take my preferred method?) rather than a ranking factor. Sort by PayID betting sites or Apple Pay betting sites to shortlist on that basis.

Apps and live capability

Every operator here runs both iOS and Android apps except TopSport, which is Android-only (no iOS). On app rating, bet365 (9.3) and Sportsbet (9.0) lead, followed by Neds (8.5), Ladbrokes, Unibet, TAB (8.4 each) and PointsBet (8.3).

Live capability tracks similarly: bet365 (9.4), then Unibet (8.4), Sportsbet (8.2), Ladbrokes (8.1). Given the phone-only rule for online in-play, these scores reflect live pricing, cash out and streaming products rather than online in-play placement. bet365, Ladbrokes and Unibet list Live Streaming; Cash Out is offered by every top-tier book except PlayUp and TopSport in our feature data. Compare handsets on the betting apps page.

How to use two accounts to capture the value

The data supports a simple structure. Unibet and Ladbrokes between them post the best available price on more than half of sampled selections, so a bettor holding both accounts captures the top line on the majority of markets we track. Adding Neds (35.59% best-price share) picks up a meaningful share of the remainder.

Where breadth matters more than topping one line — obscure competitions, deep same-game multis, live products — bet365's coverage and depth scores justify a third account despite its higher sampled margin. Sportsbet earns a place for its consistently low margin rather than headline prices.

The practical takeaway: rank by best-price share and margin for value hunting, by coverage and Bet Builder for market breadth, and treat payments and withdrawal windows as identical baseline filters. Live odds and line movement are on the odds and market movers pages.
