Futures Odds Canada: Outright Markets by Price and Margin
Futures — outright markets on season winners, division titles, conference champions and tournament winners — reward price shopping more than any other bet type, because the margin is baked in months ahead and rarely trims until the field narrows. Across the Ontario-licensed books we track, average bookmaker margin on sampled markets ranges from 3.1% (Pinnacle) to 6.9% (LeoVegas). On a Stanley Cup or NBA title outright held for a full season, that spread is the difference between a fair price and a dead one. This page ranks where futures odds Canada bettors see the sharpest outright prices, using best-price share and margin data rather than impressions.

On our sampled markets, two books dominate best-price frequency. Pinnacle wins on the lowest average margin at 3.1% across 219 sampled markets, and takes the outright price 53.4% of the time. DraftKings posts the best available price on 54.5% of 896 sampled markets at a 4.2% average margin — the widest sample in the set, which matters for futures because it spans more sports and more outright books.
FanDuel (23.7% best-price share, 4.1% margin) and Caesars Sportsbook (36.8% best-price share, 5.4% margin) round out the top tier for outright value. BetMGM sits at 4.7% margin with a 14.7% best-price share.
- Pinnacle: 3.1% avg margin, 53.4% best-price share (219 sampled)
- FanDuel: 4.1% avg margin, 23.7% best-price share (304 sampled)
- DraftKings: 4.2% avg margin, 54.5% best-price share (896 sampled)
- BetMGM: 4.7% avg margin, 14.7% best-price share (238 sampled)
- Caesars: 5.4% avg margin, 36.8% best-price share (782 sampled)
At the other end, LeoVegas (6.9% margin, 6.0% best-price share) and 888sport (6.6% margin) are the widest-priced of the sampled group. Betway (6.1%), BetRivers (6.3%) and Unibet (5.7%) fall in between. On a long-hold futures ticket, those extra three-to-four margin points compound against you.
Why margin matters more on outrights than on single games
A futures market prices an entire field — every team that can win the NHL's Stanley Cup, every driver, every division. The book's overround is spread across dozens of runners, so the vig is harder to see line-by-line but larger in aggregate. A single-game moneyline might carry 2–3% margin; a season-long outright can carry two to three times that.
That structure has two consequences for Canadian bettors. First, best-price shopping pays off disproportionately — taking the top available price on a 20-runner market can add meaningful implied value versus a mid-pack book. Second, timing matters: opening futures lines are often loosest before public money and injury news reprice the board. Our market movers tracker follows where outright prices are drifting.
Because Pinnacle and the two US-built sportsbooks (DraftKings, FanDuel) run the tightest margins on sampled markets, they are the logical first check for any long-hold outright.
Futures markets available across Canadian sports
The books we track post outright markets across the sports Canadian bettors follow most:
- Ice Hockey: NHL Stanley Cup winner, conference and division futures, Presidents' Trophy, individual awards. See NHL odds.
- Basketball: NBA championship, conference winner, MVP and season win totals; EuroLeague outrights.
- American Football: NFL Super Bowl winner, conference and division futures, MVP.
- Baseball: MLB World Series, pennant and division outrights.
- Football (soccer): Champions League, Europa League, Serie A, Ligue 1, Copa Libertadores and World Cup winner markets.
- MMA/UFC and Tennis: title and tournament outrights on the ATP and WTA Tours are shorter-window futures but priced the same way.
Market depth varies by operator. bet365 (9.6 market coverage) and DraftKings (9.0) carry the broadest boards, so niche outrights — division winners, award props, exact-finish markets — are more likely to be posted there. Pinnacle's coverage is narrower (8.4) but its prices are the sharpest when a market is offered.
How BETAXIO ranks futures books
Two factual metrics drive the ranking on this page: average bookmaker margin (lower is better) and best-price share (how often a book posts the top available outright price in our sample). These are odds-quality measures, not opinions.
We separate that from editorial context. bet365 and FanDuel score highest on our app ratings (9.3 each) and DraftKings on features (9.0), which matters if you want live streaming or same-game parlay tooling alongside your outrights — but neither improves the price on a Stanley Cup ticket. For pure outright value, margin and best-price data lead; app and feature scores are secondary.
One caveat on sample size: Pinnacle's 3.1% margin is drawn from 219 sampled markets, while DraftKings' figures come from 896. A broader sample is more robust across the varied nature of futures boards, which is why DraftKings and Caesars carry weight despite Pinnacle's lower headline margin.
Legality and where these books are available
AGCO and iGaming Ontario regulate online betting in Ontario specifically — not Canada-wide. Every operator listed here holds registration with iGaming Ontario. Outside Ontario, other provinces run their own regimes through provincial lottery corporations and regulators, so operator availability and legal status vary by province. Always check what applies where you live.
The minimum age is 19 across the provinces covered. All listed books support Interac and Visa; bet365 adds Apple Pay and Mastercard, and Sports Interaction supports InstaDebit. Minimum deposit is CAD 10 and stated withdrawal windows are 0–24h across the set. For province-level detail see our legal betting sites Canada page.
